Dear MEPIN Readers,

As most of you are aware, there has been an enormous increase in anti-Semitic violence during Israel’s Gaza operation. I wanted to share with you one bit of good news. Two US Senators, Tom Cotton and Mitch McConnell announced they are introducing the Preventing Anti-Semitic Hate Crimes Act, legislation to combat the dramatic rise of anti-Semitic hate crimes in the United States. As the headline of a National Review Article said,” Violent Attacks on American Jews Prove ‘Anti-Zionism’ Is Anti-Semitism.”

I hope this can garner overwhelming bipartisan support. The last time legislation was introduced to specifically combat anti-Semitism after the violence in Pittsburgh and San Diego, progressive members of Congress demanded and won a concession that it includes all hate.

As a reminder, here is how to tell the difference between legitimate criticism of Israel and anti-Semitism. It is our State Department definition.

Demonize:

  • Comparing Israeli policies to Nazis

Double Standards:

  • Standards not applied to other nations under the guise of human rights

Delegitimize:

  • Denying Jewish people the right to self-determination

I am attaching a video shot by my colleague Davis Richardson, President of Paradox Public Relations, for those who have not seen some of the videos. He filmed this at Washington Square Park, but the national media did not pick it up. The anti-Israel protestors are heard chanting “Allahu Akbar” and even fist-bumping with NYPD police officers.
