President Trump asked yesterday: Why aren’t the Iranian people rising up and fighting?
A better question is: Why aren’t we helping them fight?Why aren’t we arming the opposition and funding strikes, and why did the President listen to Erdogan and call off an uprising at the beginning of the war?
And will America have the patience to let Operation Economic Outcast work? Will we enforce secondary sanctions against Iran’s trading partners and, in the Treasury Secretary’s words, “asphyxiate” its economy?
If we want Iranians to rise up, we need to give them the means to succeed.
